Mountaineering Association TARA from Bajina Basta, coordinator of the GLOR project, hosted the exchange 15-19. July 2021. jula 2021. in 2017. From the visiting mountaineering organizations KPD “HEJ, GREMO NAPREJ” from Slovenia and PD “ŽELJEZNIČAR” from Croatia came 8 members each, who are guides, markers or volunteers in their home clubs.

The guests were welcomed at the Tara National Park Visitor Center in Bajina Basta, where the agenda included planned presentations. The presentation of the history of mountaineering in Serbia was made by Sladjana Biljić, vice president of MA Tara. The presentation of the project coordinator Nenad Lečić, who dealt with the application of GPS technology in mountaineering, followed, and then Ranko Milanović from the PE Tara National Park presented the richness of the protected area and the network of mountain paths on Tara mountain. After dinner and taking photos next to the famous House on the rock, the participants were accommodated in the Mountain Lodge in Rastište.

The marking of the Via Dinarica green route started on Friday, in the morning after the division of participants into three mixed teams that marked different segments of the trail on the path Dugi Do – Batura – Burine – Kruscica – Cemerista.

After lunch, a short break and the end of the summer rain, the participants met with members of the local Drina Kayak Club. The kayaks procured through the GLOR project were launched into Perućac Lake, and after a few greetings from Milutin Lukić, president of Kayak Club Drina, instructions for proper use of the boat and synchronized rowing were given by Marko Marjanović, member of the Serbian national team in whitewater kayaking. Symbolically, the participants were mixed on the vessels so that there were no representatives from the same Balkan state on any of the vessels. A small competition was held, in which the Croatian-Serbian combination of rowers won.

Saturday was reserved for participation in the traditional recreational event Drina Regatta, where over 15,000 participants sailed 25 kilometers down the Drina River, from Perućac to Rogačica. The host organized the descent with a traditional vessel – a wooden raft, in part of the Drina rafters who have used the river for centuries to transport timber to Sabac and Belgrade.

On Sunday, the mountaineering tour Mitrovac – Banjska stena – Rastište was organized. At the last minute, the participants arrived at one of the most attractive viewpoints in Serbia, because after only a few minutes, the weather worsened and the fog obscured the beautiful horizon. The second part of the tour was followed by rain, which, as they say, gave a special stamp to this exchange.

In the afternoon, a tour of Bajina Basta and a visit to the Tourist Info Center were organized. The guests were seen off on Monday, July 19, and the Slovenian partners promised to organize a meaningful and interesting exchange in September.
