From September 2 to 5, the third exchange of sports professionals and volunteers in Slovenia was successfully held. Compared to the original plan, this exchange was held a year later, in a period with a more favorable epidemiological situation. The host was the partner Cycling and Mountaineering Association \u201cHey, let\u2019s move on\u201d from Maribor. <\/p>\n

The first part of the exchange was held on Thursday, at the Arena Hotel, at the outskirts of Pohorje, where the guests were first addressed by Igor Opre\u0161nik, president of the club from Maribor, and then Nenad Le\u010di\u0107, project coordinator. Damjan Omerzu, Secretary General of the PZS, introduced the participants to the history of mountaineering in Slovenia and the activities of the Mountaineering Association of Slovenia. After that, a unique program in the field of mountaineering was presented \u2013 \u201cMountaineering for dissabled people\u201d. Jur\u010dek Novak and Marjeta \u010ci\u010d presented their long-term volunteer work, and the participants applauded the end of the presentation and showed interest in sharing experiences and their application in Croatia and Serbia.<\/p>\n

On Friday, we set off for southwestern Slovenia to the town of Svi\u0161\u010dake (1242m), where Dejan Iskra introduced the participants to the routes and attractions on the Via Dinarica trails through Slovenia. Dejan is employed by the RDA Zeleni Kras, which manages the Via Dinarica project in Slovenia. From there, we started with the marking of the green route towards Leskova Dolina, and the participants were especially impressed by the view from Veliki Sne\u017enik (1796m), the highest peak of the Dinarides in Slovenia. <\/p>\n

Saturday was reserved for cycling and touring Maribor. In the early morning, a group of over 25 participants set off on a tour of the Hotel Arena \u2013 Pekre \u2013 Limbus \u2013 Laznica \u2013 Ru\u0161e.  After a short break and refreshment, the group headed back along the Drava River, and the end of the bike tour was at Stara Trta, the oldest vine in the world. After the ascent to the Pyramid \u2013 the top of the hill with an archeological site from which a beautiful view of Maribor and the Drava Valley. After lunch, a tour of the center of Maribor followed, and then a visit to the rural household Shuman in Zavrh, which is engaged in biodynamic agricultural production. <\/p>\n

The hiking tour on Pohorje was performed in the morning on Sunday, and after lunch at the Tisa Hotel, the participants had the opportunity to reduce their impressions, both from this exchange and about the realization of the entire project. Everyone stated that a lot of effort was invested in the organization of this exchange by the hosts, and that the positive energy and friendly sports atmosphere accompanied all the activities. The participants agreed that, although the project is nearing completion, they would have to continue with the implementation of joint activities in nature. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
